    Hello,

After signing a 2-years contract in the middle of October, I began teaching in Khobar for a private university.

Recently, I was fired, but have not received anything in writing. Can someone please what I am entitled to and do I have any recourse?

As I said, I have not had anything written up regarding this matter. I have heard some talk about receiving 2 months salary, but don’t understand.

Someone please explain to me what I am entitled to and if there is anything else I can do. I never had an Iqama issued. My entry visa was renewed for another 90 days in January, but I don’t have a multiple entry or exit visa.

    Thanks for your help,

    Confused in Al-Khobar

    Subject: Transfer of sponsorship

Sponsorship transfer only after two years
By GALAL FAKKAR | ARAB NEWS

    Published: Mar 25, 2010 01:38 Updated: Mar 25, 2010 01:38

JEDDAH: Expatriates working in the Kingdom will have to wait two years now if they want to transfer sponsorship to another employer, according to a new law.

The Labor Ministry said in an announcement on Wednesday that expatriates have to work at least two years with their present employer in order to get approval for the transfer of sponsorship to another. Under the current system, workers can seek to shift jobs after six months with their employers’ consent.
Acting Labor Minister Abdul Aziz Al-Khuwaiter has approved the new measure, which will be enforced beginning April 15. All labor offices across the Kingdom have been informed of the new decision.
Abdul Rahman Al-Bawaridi, deputy minister for labor affairs, said the decision was made after observing the movement of expatriate workers in the job market in recent years. “Some companies recruit workers in order to transfer their services to others. This practice had a negative impact on employment of Saudis,” said Al-Bawaridi. “The present decision aims at stabilizing relations between employer and worker and reducing negative aspects that have been observed in the job market.”
Muhiyuddin Hikami, chairman of the Labor Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said the new decision would help fight the black market in work visas. Some private institutions sell visas or transfer their workers to other firms after recruiting them, a practice that is illegal.
Abdullah Marei Bin Mahfouz, a member of JCCI board of directors, said the decision should consider the requirements of both employers and workers. He said there are certain jobs that require transfer of sponsorships in less than two years.
“The new decision is part of the government’s efforts to restructure the labor sector,” Bin Mahfouz said.
Saudi Arabia requires more foreign workers to carry out various development projects. At present there are more than six million expatriates in the Kingdom from nearly 120 countries.

    Dear Sir,

I came saudi Arabia on an agreement vis on 14.02.2009 in Egyption company, after reaching here i found accomodation travelling problems, i my self occupied a room and incurring my travelling expenses on my own. Here the MD is not visiting the office, from the last 15, 10, 9, 8 years some of the employees working continously without going native place, but i do not want to stay like them, alltogether 40 labours are working out of which 6 have filed case in labour court for the last 8 years they are not coming to the office, here one more rules of this company is that we have to renew Iqama on our own, for this reason also they have not appointed any HR department, we are getting salaries 2 to 3 months delay, after expiring we have to fine the SR 500 extra, so, this is the management of this company.

So dears i wanted to know what is the procedure to escape from this company, and I wanted to come back again,

Kindly reply me I feel very helpless here.

    Sir,

I resigned to my previous company on nov. 2009 (3 mos before end of my contract) and paid all of the penalties imposed including plane ticket. After 3 mos (Feb. 2010), I came back to work in another company then after 6 months, my previous employer discovered that I am here and working in another company.. Does my previous employer have the right to complain and file a case against me?
